Edited by: Rift Scorn on 09/01/2006 18:56:02 Everything abut this game is PvP. Don't think other wise
Here's my rationale; some people see PvP as launching large quantities of ordance at each other. Much like myself. I trained this char for as long as i remember to simple thump out and absorb as much damage as is possible, and sustain it as long as i can before either 1) I get out 2) get popped. I got 45K in industry, and tbh i want it back
But in honesty, it is a LOT larger than that. If you play the markets and trade lanes you are not in the hectic PvP of full force combat, but you are directly involved in Player vs Player interaction, as others are trying to play the same trade route, build cheaper, sell for a higher profit margin, etc, etc. This is essentially PvP in a market driven environment and you are ALWAYS trying to out do the next guy in the same field. The beauty of this game is that there is no forced route, you want to go in guns blazing and missiles spamming, you can; you want to play the markets, you can; you want to produce and sell consumables, you can. Yet don't for one second think it's PvE because you are always trying to get one over on the next guy/girl in the the path you have chosen, and thats the essence of Player vs Player.
'But i just sit in an indy/Freighter all day moving stock from A --> B, how's that PvP, i barely speak to the other people in my corp Rift!' Yes, you many well do, but there will be someone else that will find that trade route, buy the stock quicker manage to find a away to get it there faster, from that momment you're in PvP.
'But i just talk to my agent! And i only do missions and complexes in safe space Rift! Wtf you got to say to that!?' If you log on early to try and get that complex done before the next guy, guess what? you're in PvP; you want to get the drop on the next fella to get your loot on. Missions give you points, and as everyone knows, points = prizes. You want to get more points than the next guy to get your special little something something. Yup, you guessed it, PvP. Even if it's just a toe in the water of PvP, it's the first wrung on the ladder.
That's my arguement, and i'm sticking to it . When thinking PvP, think larger than just shooting on each other, that's just the tip of hte Iceberg, albeit my favourite part of the ice berg.
